My answer is very simple but highly effective, this is something I used to do myself when I used to feel low. Though I am a motivational speaker myself, still even I have times when I feel low and deprived of inspiration.

And therefore, I can understand your situation too, since I have been through it and many students do feel the same.

I. Why does this happen?

- So why does this happen only when we study or maximum times when we study?

- For one simple reason, when we study we generally go into a shell, our life changes, communications are low, social networking quotient is done and friends are little away or usually not in mood of fun.

- Simply because, we cannot call our friends and say "Chalo, let's play Cricket today" All you got to hear will be abuses of all types!

- In all, our fun quotient is down.

- I am not saying all the above thing is incorrect, it is indeed recommended to do as written above, but a little things have to be done differently which I am listing below, plus there is one mega solution, to all these which is written in the bottom of the answer!

II. How do deal with this situation? Some simple Home Remedies!

(a) Have a routine and follow it -

Keep your routine fix and follow the same regularly. Study regularly and in a healthy way. This is because over-burden of studying is going to stressout you.

(b) Time for Hobbies -

Your schedule should include a particular time of the day when you are totally retarded or you feel you can't concentrate anymore, this time is your hobby time.

When I used to study for CA-Final my schedule used to be 14 hours a day effective study, 4 hours sleep at night, 2 hours sleep in afternoon, 2 hours were consumed by daily personal activities and then I used to keep 2 hours for my special activity! I had a designated time - 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

(c) List out your hobbies -

The day when you plan your studies, along side also plan your hobbies! Oh yes, make a list of hobbies/ activities/ interesting things that you like to do. Now everyday at your fixed time, you would open this list, pick an activity, and just enjoy it! This ensures your hobbies also improve and grow, and you have a good time.

(d) Quality time with family -

Exams/Study Prep time was always a good family time for me. Because since I used to cutoff my social connections and friends, family was all the human beings I used to see and talk daily. So spend a quality time with family! Talk with them.

(e) Enjoy the company of Pets -

If you have pets and if you are pet-lover, again could be a handy activity.

(f) Be a Nature-lover -

Obviously, either you would be studying early morning, or late night or may be both. This is good, go out on the terrace or the balcony and relax over there enjoying the warmth of the morning or cold of the nights.

But hang on! This works only when you get up very early in morning like 5 am - 6:30 am (depending on your local timings) and similarly if you sleep very late like 11 pm - 1 am. (depending on your local timings)

(g) Attaching other goals to your study goal -

Instead of using your 2 hours daily for activities, you may alternatively use it for a fixed purpose! Yes! Just like Parasites, stick one Personal / Social Objective to the Objective of Studying. If you are dancer / singer / instrument player / reader / writer / sportsperson etc. you could practice your skills in the 2 hours daily. Else you can think of becoming something better socially/personally.

I had tried this. I had attached the goal of developing my abs through intense workout & gym along with the goal of clearing CA - Final. Well, I completed both of those goals satisfactorily! So you may try gym/yoga/aerobics etc. as per your need and keep a goal in that too! It works for sure!

Why this works? - Because when you focus on your other goal, you completely forget about your study goals and thereby automatically for 2 hours everyday you mind is away and therefore you feel a fresh energy. Besides sound mind lies sound body! So that way also it is beneficial, instead of being lazy and sedentary!

III. Mega Solution - Works every time!

- Yes! It may happen that even after trying all the above, you may still feel like "Oh God! Why am I studying?"

- When you feel low of motivation, the mega solution will take you out and that is - "Look Back and Look Front".

- You should look back to the day, when you had started it all and Look forward to the day when you will achieve it!

When I used to feel low while studying for CA - Final, I used to think about why did I join CA? What was my goal? How it will be when I pass CA-Final? How will I react to the result? What will the perks? How I will boast about it amongst my friends, etc.

- You should prepare a list of all such reasons or all such points and attach it to your study plan.

- Include some inspirational quotes said by popular leaders which make you feel better, you may include personalities which motivate you!

- Create an environment and keep all distractions away in closet!

Sachin Tendulkar used to inspire me a lot, I mean just his name is enough! And I start thinking how he did it all, using a coin on the stumps and practicing all day to earn that one rupee coins! Its all you in your sub-conscious and when you feel silent they come back to you!

IV. Besides you will also have to take care of few things:

(a) You have to give up various things -

- Mobile

- Television

- Any sort of Internet

- Computers, Laptops, Gaming Devices

- Any other thing which is a sort of "Time-pass" and takes up lot of your time of the day.

(b) Divide your day, plan your day in advance -

Plan your studies, fix your time for studies. Measure everyday how much hours you studied, keep a track of it, it keeps you motivated. Don't plan your studies beyond a week. But for one week, plan it on Paper.

(c) Divide your day into different Sessions. Whatever time you have, give the best study time to your worst subject!

(d) This doesn't mean you don't enjoy life! You now have to fix a time of day, when you feel like a retarded person!

(e) Now this time usually 2 hours on average, you can put one of your hobbies or less-intrusive, non-addictive time pass. This may include:

1. Reading, Writing

2. Dancing, Singing

3. A particular Television show (which shouldn't be a series)

4. Hanging out (non-intrusive)

5. Anything you think appropriate

Peace of mind is most important to increase your study hours. I have myself studied 15 effective hours a day by this method for a good stretch of period and therefore, it is recommended to do the same.

(f) Just do this for 7 days -

Your target is 7 days. On 8th day you will automatically be used to. If you do it for a stretch of month, you will have mastered your nerves by then!

It's like a Coffee addiction, which has to be taken at fixed time, similarly you can get addicted to good habits as well!

(g) Go into "dumb mode" -

Yes complete Silence, no talking, no chit-chatting, no random talks. Only important talks and that too in most simple and shortest manner! This will help you in concentration!
