If other Muslims in the world tend to use full Arabic or full Persian names, Muslim Indonesians will use the combination of Arabic and Sanskrit name or even full Sanskrit name.

These are some common Sanskrit (or ancient Javanese/Sundanese Hindu) names that commonly use in Indonesia:

  1. Deva (Dewa), male name and Devi (Dewi), female name. These name is often use to address Hindu God and these mean, “divine and shining”.
  2. Vishnu (Wisnu), male name. This name is taken from Hindu God name. Vishnu is the preserver god, which means he protects the universe from being destroyed and keeps it going.
  3. Andika (Andhika), male name. This name taken from a historical title bestowed by pre-Islamic rulers (Hindu or Buddhis lord) meaning "lord".
  4. Anindita, female name. This name means "irreproachable, virtuous" and comes from Sanskrit अ (a) meaning "not" combined with निन्दिता (nindita) "blamed, low, defamed".
  5. Anindya (Anindia), female name. This name is originally from Bengali, ultimately from Sanskrit. In India, which means "immaculate, faultless".
  6. Aditya (Adithya, Raditya, Aditia, Adhitya, Raditia), male name. This is a name for the seven (or eight) Hindu gods who are the children of Aditi. It is also another name for the Hindu sun god, Surya.
  7. Chandra (Candra), male name. Chandra means "moon" in Indonesian, ultimately from Sanskrit word, चन्द्र (candrá).
  8. Airlangga (Erlangga or Angga), male name. Means "jumping water" or "crossing water", from Indonesian air meaning "water" combined with Sanskrit लङ्घन (laá¹…ghana) meaning "passing over, jumping, crossing". Airlangga also the name of King of the Kingdom of Kahuripan in East Java who ruled from 990-1049.
  9. Galuh, female name. Galuh means "gem, gemstone" in Old Javanese and Old Sundanese. In Javanese culture, the term also refers to an unmarried daughter of a king. This was also the name of a Sundanese kingdom that spanned the western part of the island of Java in Indonesia.
  10. Indra (Hendra, Endra, Endro, Hendro, Mahendra), male name. This name actually means "possessing drops of rain" from Sanskrit इन्दु (indu) meaning "a drop" and र (ra) meaning "acquiring, possessing". Indra is the name of the ancient Hindu warrior god of the sky and rain. He is the chief god in the Rigveda.
  11. Larasati (Laras), female name. Larasati means "deep" or "firm, strong, steadfast" in Indonesian. Larasati, sometimes called Dewi Larasati (or Dewi Rarasati), is an Indonesian goddess and the wife of Arjuna in the Javanese version of the Hindu epic Mahabharata.
  12. Mahardika, male name. Mahardika means "virtuous, noble" or "wise" in Indonesian, ultimately from Sanskrit महर्द्धिक (maharddhika) meaning "very prosperous"
  13. Sarasvati (Saraswati, Saras), female name. This name means "possessing water" from Sanskrit सरस् (saras) meaning "fluid, water, lake" and वती (vati) meaning "having". This is the name of a Hindu river goddess, also associated with learning and the arts, who is the consort of Brahma.
  14. Sekar, female name. This name is the feminine form of Hindu God, Lord Vishnu.
  15. Soekarno (Sukarno), male name. This is the name of Indonesia's founding father. This name taken from the Sanskrit prefix सु (su) meaning "good" combined with the name of the Hindu mythological hero Karna.

Therefore, foreigners can easily recognize Indonesian name in international forums, since it has its own uniqueness comparing to other Muslim majority countries.
