- “A Brahmin born in a Pathan family”
This is what Irrfan’s father used to call him, the reason being he was an extremely sensitive bloke and felt it is appalling to kill an animal to eat. He remained a pure vegetarian all his life.
What is even more fascinating is his father was a hunter and had a penchant for hunting animals while he was his antithesis and he has often described this paradox in his interviews.
- Irrfan married Sutapa Sikdar in 1995 who was a Hindu, Irrfan told her parents that he was willing to change his religion for her.
- Irrfan dropped Khan from his name and it was not because he was superstitious but he wanted his work to define him and not his lineage. There are reasons to believe why he was so dedicated!
- During his last moments, he told his wife and children that "Ab mujhe yakeen hai mai haar gaya hoon". (Now I am certain that I am going to die) Apparently, the actor kept saying, "She is here in my room, mujhe lene aaye hai, dekho baithi hai mere pass". (they have come to take me away, look my mother is sitting right here)
These Were Irrfan Khan's Last Words Before He Passed Away
- And according to some sources, his last words were “Amma has come to take me”
For your information, his mother passed away just three days before his demise.
I along with all his fans are aghast but his life reminds us that
“ Zindagi lambi nahi badi honi chahiye” (Life must be large rather than long.)
His splendour will always be remembered and cherished.
Hail the King Irrfan.
