3.Chaya Someshwar Temple in Telangana.

The major attraction of this temple is its mysterious shadow/Chhaya on which the temple has been named too. There is shadow that falls on the main deity, Shiva Lingam. The shadow is apparent even today when you visit the temple. Although there is no pillar in front of the lingam, a shadow appears in the form of one of the pillars that have been sculpted outside the sanctum of the temple. It was till recently that it was a mystery that many failed to solve.

The two pillars on either side falls on Shiva lingam as one.

The second garbhagriha is for Lord Brahma. Here if a person stands for praying in front of the god,one can witness shadows of him on all four directions.

The third grabhagriha is again for Lord Shiva. Here if a person stands in front of God his shadow will always fall in front of him irrespective of the time of the day.

Our ancestors really used science in all the architectural marvels they have built.

However, now it is known that it is the result of complex architecture and scientific calculations. It is nothing less than an architectural wonder that the shadow is created through the reflection of light through various pillars which have been placed strategically in front of sacred chamber.

On the auspicious day of Mahashivaratri thousands of pilgrims visit Sahasralinga to offer their prayers to Shiva.

7.Vadakkunnathan temple in Kerala.

The shiva lingam in this temple was installed by Parashurama.

The world famous thrissur pooram festival is conducted in this temple only.

The idol of Shiva, which is not visible, is covered under a mount of ghee, formed by the daily abhisheka (ablution) with ghee over the years. After abhishekam a portion of the ghee is returned to the devotees and they take it home as the ghee has miraculous powers to cure all diseases. A devotee looking at the sanctum now sees a thirteen-foot high mount of ghee embellished with thirteen cascading crescents of gold and three serpent hoods at top. According to traditional belief, this represents the snow-clad Mount Kailash, the abode of Parvathi and Parameswara.
