There is a tomb in Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris, France, belonging to that of French journalist Victor Noir who was shot and killed in 1870.
After his body was moved to the cemetery in 1891, a bronze statue was sculpted to mark his grave, which over time was said to bring fertility to any woman that touched it. Victor Noir’s tomb receives many visitors:
In 2004 a fence was erected around the tomb to deter people from touching the statue. However, due to the protests from the "female population of Paris" it was torn down.
Climbing any grave and posing provocatively is deemed disrespectful in my book, but I can’t help think that if Victor Noir had been a woman there would be outrage.
