Being an introvert and an inherently shy person taking a compliment does not come easy to me.I always assume people say things just to make us feel better instead of actually owning them. Therefore it is not strange to rarely feel grateful or overwhelmed by a compliment.Looking back on years there is one such praise which shines out and the memory of it always floods me with warmth.
I was in my high school and we had one of the Mathematics quizzes scheduled . Questions looked fairly simple and I breezed through the answers.
Ours was a school where tests and results were not considered as a benchmark of student’s performance and learning.Like the countless others which I had to take in 10th Std this one too skipped my mind until my maths teacher,Anand Sir gave us back the graded sheet. On it was the most beautiful comment I had ever seen .I was grinning ear to ear for days after seeing that.
I still have those yellowed pages kept safely tucked and when life feels low and I am drained out of confidence they still manage to jolt me out of it and ensures that a silly smile is plastered on my face.
