15 August, Independence Day is around the corner. We all have different things in mind.
- Singing our National Anthem with pride.
- Listening to ’patriotic Songs’.
- Watching movies that will boost our patriotism.
- Watching Independence Day celebration in Red Fort itself with butterflies in the stomach, while some will watch it on TV and feel equally proud. But the feeling of waving our national flag from highest point possible and admiring its beauty is unbeatable. A mere sight of it fills our heart with undefinable emotions.
BUT
I will not be doing any of it.
Because of this
Did your blood boil?
Not yet? I have more.
Now?
Of course whose blood will not boil after seeing someone stepping foot on our pride, and that too when we are so close to the celebration.
You should be very angry now. I was too.
Not anymore.
Because this is what makes me angry
And this
And this…
This is not an act of enemies. Whoever did this are a bunch of kids/group of college friends/people from our neighborhood/you/me. Who too want to celebrate Independence Day like all of us and why not?
Everyone has right to show love for their motherland. People are free to wave the flag wherever they like.
I just want to ask you one simple question.
What do you think you are going to do with the flag after celebration is over? What will happen to the ‘SYMBOL OF PATRIOTISM’ that we have purchased, after the enthusiasm is over?
Let me know If you do have an answer.
Any answer? I know most of us don`t have any.
My dear fellow Indians. Don`t buy Tricolor/Flag if you are unable to dispose it with dignity. Just don`t throw little tricolors on roads after buying it for few Rs. and feeling Indian for even fewer minutes.
Trust me. Nobody will question your patriotism if you don`t buy any token of patriotism.
Rather than hoisting and completely forgetting about its significance afterwards, I would choose picking up the tricolor from road and that is exactly what I will be doing this Independence Day.
Are you still reading??? Thank you for your patience.
This year too, Prime Minister of India will unfurl the National Flag at Red Fort. Where millions of people will participate in Independence Day function.
Friends Forever Foundation did a reality check of what happens to the Tricolor after the enthusiasm is over.
Look what they found:
My hands are literally shaking while writing. Their team collected more than 7000 Indian National Flags and around 5000 tricolor symbols in a day from different parts of New Delhi and disposed them respectfully.
Our National Flag is a symbol of our pride and our identity as an Indian. Treat your identity with respect.
Guidelines for disposal of national flag:
In my views,
“Indian flag stands tallest, not because of the height of the pole, but because of the sweat and blood of the people buried beneath”
Note: If you still want to buy (considering the sellers are poor children), Buy it, But protect it with the same dignity you were having while hoisting the flag.
JAI HIND.
Kindly do read and share (online/offline). Aware everyone. 15th of August is not far away.
